Reward Offered After Arsonist Sets Fire To Church On Long Island, Police Say

Authorities are asking for the public’s help after someone intentionally set fire to a Long Island church.

The incident happened in Hempstead, at the La Cosecha Community Church on Greenwich Street, at around 2:40 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024.

A man carrying a yellow backpack purposely set fire to the building, causing damage, Nassau County Police said. Nobody was injured.

Nassau County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact the organization at 1-800-244-TIPS.
